MEETINGS
May 23, Board Meeting  
           
Meetings are fourth the Tuesday of the month at 6 PM. The meeting place is Jamestown Community Hall (next to Tuolumne County Sheriff's Substation), Main Street, Jamestown. All club members are invited. For information, call 532-0570.
June 17, Election Meeting  

           
Election Meeting and Potluck Dinner will be held at the Senior Center on Greenley Rd. starting at 6 PM. The Nominating Committee's nominations are for President, John Turner; Vice-President, Barry Boulton; Secretary, Rick Baird; Treasurer, Sandra Turner; and Director at Large, Suzanne Kilburn. Nominations will be accepted from the floor at the Election Meeting. The Senior Center has two meetings rooms and we will be in the one with the entrance on the south side of the building, around the corner from the front door. Please call Kathy Fox, 586-0278 to coordinate the dish to share.
FIELD TRIPS
Heavy rain cancels field trips. If in doubt, call the leader by one hour before the meeting time.

All CSAS trips are open to the public, and beginning birders, including children, are welcome on day trips.
Bring drinking water and a lunch or snacks. Hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes, a sun hat and sunscreen, and
insect repellant are advisable for all trips. Dressing in layers is also advisable for longer trips, or iffy weather.
Binoculars are a must, bird books are advised, and spotting 'scopes are optional and much appreciated.

June 5-7,
Friday-Sunday
Yuba Pass Area and the Sierra Valley will be the destination the first weekend in June. Accommodations will be at Herrington's Sierra Pines Resort, Sierra City (early reservations are necessary 800-682-9848 or 530-862-1151) or camping at Wild Plum NF campground, just east of Sierra City. You can arrive in Sierra City on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Early arrivals can do some scouting with me before Saturday. There have been a great variety of birds seen from Yuba Pass, along the Gold Lake Highway, and down on the east side of the pass to the Sierra Valley, as the habitats are quite varied. Eagle Meadow — Join wildlife biologists Darca Morgan, Roy Bridgman and Todd Plummer for a field trip to Niagara Creek and Eagle Meadow in the Stanislaus National Forest on Saturday, July 18. Bring binoculars, sun protection, insect repellent, lunch in a pack, and water. Hiking boots are recommended for Niagara Creek's steep slopes and rocks.
Last year we saw Mountain Quail, Calliope Hummingbirds, Hammond's and Dusky Flycatchers, Cassin's and Warbling Vireos, Golden-crowned Kinglets, Green-tailed Towhee, Evening Grosbeak, eight species of warblers and heard a Sooty Grouse.
We will meet at the Niagara Creek parking lot at 7 AM to catch the morning activity. For further information, call Darca at 532-0929. If you wish to carpool from the Twain Harte Market parking lot, call Jean at 928-1886 after July 13.
August 22,

Clark Fork — Steven Umland will lead this field trip up Clark Ford Road to Iceberg Meadow in the Stanislaus National Forest. This is a new trip for our group. Be sure to bone up on Flycatchers before this trip. Bring binoculars, scope if you have one, family band radio if you have one, sun protection, insect repellent, lunch and water. Hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes recommended.
We will leave from the east end of the Twain Harte Market parking lot (near CSERC) at 7: a.m. sharp. Carpooling is recommended. For further information, call Steve at 536-1996.

8th Annual Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua, in Lee Vining, CA. Their claim is, "Not your ordinary bird festival!  You may check out what is full and what is still open to register for at   www.monolake.org/chautauqua/register/.  Registration will still be possible at the start of the Chautauqua.
October 17, Saturday   

CSAS Bird House Sale, held in conjunction with the Native Plant Society at WestAmerica Bank on Mono Way. 9AM to 1 PM. This is a good time to put up your bird houses and bat boxes, so the animals can get acquainted with them. Birds might even use them for roosting in the winter months. If you would like to make a bird house, bat box or bird feeder for us to sell, it would be greatly appreciated. Contact Tom at 694-8564.
